Questions & Answers

We know you have questions.
We have answers.

Starting something new always comes with questions, and we love them. Here are the ones we hear most often from families just like yours.

What if my child is new to school?

First days are a big deal, and we treat them that way. Our gentle, gradual transition process gives every child time to adjust at their own pace. Your child's teacher will be in close contact with you before the start date, and our Meet & Greet is specifically designed to make the classroom feel familiar and safe before the first official day. You're not alone in this, we walk every family through it, step by step.

What if my child doesn't speak the second language?

That's completely normal, and exactly how it should be. Children don't learn a second language through lessons; they absorb it naturally through songs, stories, play, and daily interaction. No prior exposure is needed. Within weeks, you'll be amazed at how naturally it starts to come. Our bilingual educators are experts at making language feel like play, not work.

How do you support transitions?

Transitions, whether it's starting school, moving up to a new program, or simply adjusting to a new routine, are some of the most important moments in early childhood. We approach every transition with patience, intentionality, and warmth. We use gradual entry schedules, maintain open communication with families, and work closely with each child to build the trust and security they need to feel at home.

Should my child be potty trained?

No, we do not require children to be potty trained. We understand that every child develops at their own pace, and we partner closely with families to support this important milestone with patience, consistency, and care. Our educators gently guide children through the process in a nurturing and respectful way, helping them build confidence and independence when they are truly ready.

What makes Concordia different from other preschools nearby?

A few things set us apart. We're genuinely bilingual, not just Spanish or French "enrichment" twice a week, but full immersion every day. Our curriculum blends two of the world's most respected approaches, Montessori and Reggio Emilia, with a thoughtful, evidence-based framework. And we include all meals, so families never have to worry about food. But honestly, the biggest difference is the people, our educators are extraordinary, and the community they've built is something you feel the moment you walk through our doors.

Do you offer part-time schedules?

Yes, we offer part-time schedules with limited availability. Full-time families receive enrollment priority, so if you're considering part-time, we recommend reaching out early to check availability. Part-time options include 2 or 3 days per week. We offer Half Day, Full Day, and Extended Day options within both full-time and part-time schedules.

What is your policy on absences or missed days?

We understand that life happens, illness, family events, travel. We ask that families notify us in advance whenever possible so we can plan accordingly. Tuition is not prorated for individual absences, as our staffing and programming are scheduled based on enrollment. We are also unable to provide make-ups for missed days on a part-time schedule and appreciate your understanding.

How will I receive updates about my child's day?

Staying connected is something we take seriously. You'll receive regular updates through brightwheel, daily reports, photos, and notes from your child's teacher. We also hold regular parent-teacher check-ins throughout the year. Our teachers are always available for a quick conversation at pickup, and our director maintains an open-door policy for anything that needs a deeper conversation. You will always know how your child is doing.
