Toddler Program

Learning through love, language & play.

Our Toddler Program is designed for children between 12 and 24 months old who are taking their very first steps into school life. We know this is a big moment for families, and we approach it with all the patience, warmth, and care it deserves.

Every day in our toddler classroom is an immersive bilingual experience. Children naturally absorb English and French through songs, stories, play, and everyday interactions, exactly the way the brain learns language best at this age.

Guided by the principles of Montessori and Reggio Emilia, our educators create a carefully prepared environment where toddlers can explore, discover, and build confidence at their own pace. No rushing, no pressure, just joyful, developmentally appropriate learning.

What Your Toddler Will Experience

Our toddler program is designed with deep respect for this extraordinary stage of development where every moment is a first, and every interaction shapes how a child understands the world.

Language Emergence

Language is nurtured throughout the day through songs, stories, and meaningful conversation. Educators speak, model, and gently expand children's sounds and first words in both languages, supporting natural and joyful communication.

Exploration Through the Senses

Toddlers learn by touching, moving, and exploring. Carefully prepared materials invite children to investigate textures, sounds, and movement, building early thinking skills through hands-on discovery.

Moving and Growing Independence

As children begin to walk, climb, and do things on their own, we provide safe opportunities to practice. Simple routines - feeding, washing hands, putting on shoes - support independence, coordination, and confidence.

Rhythm, Music and Joyful Routine

Predictable rhythms help toddlers feel secure. Songs, music, and gentle transitions guide the day, making routines comforting, engaging, and easy to follow.

Calm Beautiful Environment

Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to be calm, inviting, and scaled to the child. Simple, beautiful spaces reduce overwhelm and support focused, peaceful exploration.

Care, Comfort, and Daily Well-being

Daily care routines - meals, rest, and diapering - are approached with intention and respect. These moments are not rushed, but seen as opportunities for connection, communication, and trust-building.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know.

Still have questions? Call us at 718-255-2105 or email info@concordiapreschool.com, we're always happy to chat.

How do you help toddlers adjust to being away from their parents?

We take a gentle, individualized approach to separation. Teachers build strong, trusting relationships with each child, offering comfort and consistency. We partner closely with families to make the transition smooth, gradual, and reassuring for both child and parent.

What if my child is not used to a schedule yet?

At this age, flexibility is key. While we follow a predictable daily rhythm, we also respect each child's individual needs, especially when it comes to rest, feeding, and transitions. Our goal is to support development, not rush it.

How do you support naps and sleep?

We create a calm, restful environment with consistent routines that help children feel secure. Each child is supported according to their individual sleep habits, and we work with families to maintain continuity between home and school as much as possible.

What if my child is not walking yet?

That's completely normal. We support each child at their own pace, offering safe spaces and opportunities to crawl, pull up, cruise, and eventually walk. Development is never rushed, only encouraged with care and attention.

How do you handle meals and feeding?

Meals are calm, social, and unhurried. Children are gently encouraged to feed themselves and try new foods, while teachers provide support as needed. We respect each child's appetite and pace, making mealtimes positive and pressure-free.

How do you communicate with parents during the day?

We provide regular updates through Brightwheel, including meals, naps, activities, and photos. We believe in open, transparent communication so you always feel connected to your child's day.

How do you handle challenging behaviors like biting or frustration?

At this age, behaviors are a form of communication. Teachers respond calmly and consistently, helping children express their needs with simple language and guidance. We focus on teaching, prevention and redirection.

How do you ensure safety and supervision?

Children are closely supervised at all times by trained educators in a carefully designed environment. Our classrooms follow all NYC health and safety regulations, with clear procedures in place to ensure a safe, secure setting for every child.
